Terri Bennett Accepts Prestigious AMS Award For Water Education Program

Terri Bennett received the "Award for Excellence in Science Reporting by a Broadcast Meteorologist" on January 23 in New Orleans.
The award, presented by The Council of the American Meteorological Society at the annual AMS meeting was “For her WaterWise series of reports that educates the public about public watersheds, and highlights the importance of preserving and protecting freshwater.” The award is presented to one broadcast meteorologist annually throughout the United States.
Terri brought the WaterWise franchise to WCNC -TV in 2005. She created a productive and profitable partnership between WCNC-TV, Charlotte Storm Water Services and Mecklenburg County Storm Water Services. The mission of WaterWise is to increase awareness about water quality issues in the Charlotte area. Terri is passionate in her belief that we must all do more to protect the quality of the water where we live.
