Do Your Part At Work - Part 4 of 5 - Add some living green!
Tip number 4 in our series of do your part at work is .... Leaf it up!
Okay that might be terrible play on words, but the advice is A+ material. Buy a plant and put it on your desk and if you are in the giving spirit, give one to your co-worker as well.
NASA research has proven that plants remove common indoor pollutants like benzene and formaldehyde from the air. Both chemicals are widely used in manufacturing and furnishing products. They can make you sick or with long term exposure can cause cancer. The spider plant, philodendron and golden pothos were labeled most effective at removing formaldehyde molecules from the air.
The gerber daisy and chrysanthemums were rated superior at removing benzene.
The top ten list of plants that are effective at removing formaldehyde, benzene and carbon monoxide from the air are:
1. Bamboo Palm
2. Chinese Evergreen
3. English Ivy
4. Gerber Daisy
5. Janet Craig - dracaena
6. Marginata - dracaena
7. Corn Plant/Mass cane - dracaena massangeana
8. Mother-In-Laws Tongue - sansevieria laurentii
