A Smart Strip Saves Money & Energy

Even when you’re not using your computer, your tv, your coffee maker or your phone charger,  they're using electricity wasting energy and money.

Do Your Part by unplugging these energy wasters when  they’re not in use.  How do you tell which appliances and electronics are wasting your money?  If it has  a remote control, a continuous display or external power supply it uses electricity anytime it's plugged into the outlet.

If you want to make it easy, use a Smart Strip where you can. Plug your computer and all the related items into a Smart Strip. When you turn off your computer, or it goes to sleep, the Smart Strip cuts off the electricity to the other electronics.

Here’s how it works. You plug your computer into the “control device” outlet. Then, plug related electronics like the printer into the “switched device” outlet. When the control device is off,  power is automatically cut off to all switched devices. There’s also an area to plug in items you want power all the time like lamps and clocks.

If you use a Smart Strip in your home or office workspace you could reduce your energy use by 73%. That’s a savings of more than a hundred dollars a year.  Add another Smart Strip to your living room for your tv, dvd player, cable box and surround sound system to save even more money and energy.

Turning off electronics isn’t always enough. Many continue to draw a small amount of power even when they're not in use. So unplug them when you're not using them or let Smart Strip help you Do Your Part. You can learn more about Smart Strips by visiting the Do Your Part section in our store.
