A Better Beer

Doing your part doesn't have to be hard.  In fact, you can tread a little more lightly on the planet even in your downtime.

Beer is one of the world's oldest beverages.  The ingredients were most certainly all natural centuries ago and that's a trend that's catching on again.  You can now find organic beers in lots of places, from wine shops like this one to your favorite grocery store.

The beauty of this type of beer is that it's made from grains that are grown without using toxic fertilizers, insecticides, or herbicides.  All those things can pollute our land and waterways.  These chemicals are not only harmful to humans but they are blamed for killing millions of fish and birds each year.

With more and more people opting for eco-friendly choices, Big beer makers  are getting in on the organic game. Anheuser-Bush now has two natural brands out now.

And if you want to be even more eco-friendly check out some of the smaller breweries right in your area!  At Beertown.org - you can enter your zip code and get a list of micro-breweries close to home.  When you buy locally brewed beer you can avoid all those additives and preservatives and you'll be supporting smaller farms,  injecting money into your local economy, and cutting down on the energy it takes to ship the beer across the globe.  Now that's super eco-friendly!

So Do Your Part when you pick up your next six pack - and enjoy the flavors of a locally or organically produced brew.
