What’s old is new again. Don’t believe me? Check out “Play It Again Sports.” This retailer buys and sells used sports gear that’s still in great shape. This keeps old gear out of the landfills and cuts down on demand for new gear that uses more energy to produce. There are two locations in the metro area, one in S. Charlotte and another in Mooresville.
Freecycle.org is another option to explore. This is a free on line group that seeks to keep as much material out of the landfills as possible. So when a freecycler is done with an item, it’s up for grabs, free for the taking. Bikes and other sports equipment are posted with regularity. Just remember to use common sense when dealing with strangers.
