This week I’ve been giving you tips to pass the time with your kids during the long hot summer months.  They’ll have a little fun and it’s a great time to point out how they are doing their part to protect the planet.

From making a cool bag out of their favorite t-shirt to making fun shaped crayons from those hundreds of broken crayons around the house ...they see that even they can make a difference by reusing things they already have in their rooms.

Here’s a tip for those of you with children that love their Webkinz.  The next time your at the local garden center, Let your kids pick out a plant.  Help them plant it in a pot and make them responsible for making sure it lives...It’s a living breathing green ‘webkinz’ and they’ll take great pride in showing everyone their work.  This is especially true if the plant you choose produces a fruit or vegetable that they enjoy.

You can find more ideas to pass the time this summer with your children under the dyp tab.  There are recommendations for local  indoor and outdoor eco-adventures as well as a summer reading list that teaches the importance of every one doing their part.
