Terri has been forecasting weather in the Carolinas since 1991. She worked at WSOC-TV for seven years and then as Chief Meteorologist at WCNC-TV for 10 years. Over the course of her 17 year television career, she shared her wealth of knowledge about the atmosphere, astronomy, gardening and the environment through her daily weather broadcast, the internet and the Charlotte Observer.
In September of 2007, she started Terri Bennett Enterprises, LLC where she continues to share her passion about all things weather related. From global climate change to native plants, Terri covers it all in her blog. And she'll show you how to reduce your eco-footprint through simple do your partª ideas.
Many of you will remember my dear friend Ray Boylan. After 11 years at WTLV in Jacksonville, FL Ray joined WSOC-TV as Director of Weather Services. A job he held from 1986 to 1997, bringing many of you through Hurricane Hugo in 1989. Ray then served as Meteorologist Emeritus at WCNC for the next three years before retiring to Florida.
Prior to his successful television career Ray spent 23 years in the U.S. Navy as a Flight Meteorologist with the Hurricane Hunters. Ray logged thousands of hours flying through hurricanes, taking critical measurements from inside the storm that would lead to more accurate forecasts.
Ray and his wife 'Nana Gail' now live in Florida near their five children, 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
John Snyder is a very smart man. I learned this working beside him on the news desk at WCNC-TV. If there was breaking news, you wanted John Snyder on the set. Before coming to Charlotte John worked at MSNBC, CNBC and ABC News. He got his start in television as a sportscaster in 1973. A job he held for 20 years - so John knows sports too!
John is a longtime student of politics. He is also a voracious reader. I asked John to educate us all on the politics of the energy crisis and the environment. I think this is especially important given that we will have a chance to speak with our vote in early November.
John wasn't sure he was the person for the job but I think you'll agree that he is the perfect person for the job.
